In 2024, the Society of Editors celebrated 20 years of campaigning in the name of a free press, freedom of speech and the public's right to know. We spoke with four influential figures from the news media industry who express the importance of press freedom in a free and democratic society and the increasingly important need there is to defend these qualities in an era of fake news and disinformation.
