Our Objectives

The Society of Energy Editors aims to serve as a professional association dedicated to promoting excellence in media coverage of the energy sector.

The primary objectives of the Society include:

 

1. To promote and project the Nigeria energy industry.


2. To provide researched historical guidance and advisory on energy related issues in Nigeria.


3. Fostering high standards of journalistic integrity and accuracy in reporting on energy-related topics.


4. To act as watchdog on activities in the energy industry by holding operators, regulators, government functionaries and lawmakers accountable.


5. To ensure that energy reporters under the aegis of the National Association of Energy Correspondents, NAEC, are provided with historical guidance on energy reporting.


6. Facilitating knowledge sharing and networking among experienced energy sector journalists.


7. Promoting public understanding of energy issues through insightful and well-researched reporting.


8. To produce and cause to be published a quarterly ‘Nigeria Energy Outlook’.


9. To engage with the operators, regulators, and lawmakers periodically with a view to aligning policy frameworks with executive action.


10. Providing professional development opportunities and resources for energy editors to enhance their skills and expertise.


11. Vigorously advocating for the importance of balanced and informed coverage of energy-related developments.
